The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public about unauthorized test kits that are being marketed to test for COVID-19T at the comfort of your own home. The agency is also actively and aggressively monitoring the market for any fraudulent unauthorized test kits.

While many Americans are sheltering at home to help “flatten the curve” and slow spread of COVID-19. Some might be tempted to purchase or use questionable products that claim to help treat, cure or even prevent coronavirus.  The FDA and Federal Trade Commission issued warning letters to seven companies advertising products.

Officials are spreading the message that the FDA has not authorized any home tests. Although they see the public health value in expanding the availability of testing, they are working with developers for an accurate test that may include home testing.
